Running a VA Business with a Focus on Marketing

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

When you are going to be running a VA business, one of the things that you are going to find is that a fair amount of your focus is going to be on getting the word out about your business and what you have to offer. Of course, if you are running a VA business and one of the primary services that you offer to clients involves marketing, then you are going to find that your marketing becomes even more important.

Runnning a VA business is not like trying to convince your friends to read your favorite book – for that matter, running a VA business isn’t like convincing your kids that they want to try a new vegetable. Because marketing a virtual assistant business is all about making sure that others know about the services that you have available, you’re going to need to be sure that your marketing reflects the fact that you are promoting a service.

Fortunately, there are a few key things that you can learn from those VAs who do put an emphasis on marketing. You’ll be able to see the importance of using a great website and even to get a sense of what content prospective clients are looking for in a blog. You’ll be able to look at the way that they participate in forums, the way that they interact with their clients and, mostly, you’ll be able to learn more about the techniques that have been the most effective for them.

Of course, in order to take full advantage of the knowledge of other VAs while you are running your business, you’re going to want to be sure that you’re part of a great VA network where more experienced virtual assistants are there to offer their assistance.
